Julie and Robert really made our C2C trip hassle free - all we had to do was ride the bikes and that was quite enough for us! A warm welcome, clean and comfortable accommodation in the bunkhouse, with kitchen and shower block. Good breakfasts in the farmhouse. Well organised transport, meals and B&B for the other days. Nothing was too much trouble in supporting our adventure, even our chilled champagne and easter eggs were brought to the finish for us! We really felt they took a personal interest in our endeavour. Highly recommended. The best bit were the certificates waiting for us when we returned. Many thanks for a highly memorable Easter.

Stayed at Mains Farm on the first week of April 2011. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Robert and Julie and shown around the facilities. The bunkhouses are clean and functional and are exactly what they say on the tin. The kitchen area was supplied with some tea/coffee/sugar and milk, which was a pleseant and much needed surprise after the long journey up! The showers and toilet facilites are also just what is needed, clean with hot water and near to the bunkhouse. The common room area was just in the stages of being completed as we left, and looks to be a nice addon for those using the Bunkhouses. The organisation from Robert and Julie was top notch, our C2C Cycle experience really was completely hassle free, with packed lunch provided each day, breakfast, meals booked for us in Pubs/Inns along the route and our accomodation for the overnight stay in Rookhope booked for us also. The pickup/drop off service to/from the start/end of the C2C route is attentive and the trailer is cushioned well enough to stop any damage to your bikes. The C2C completion certificate at the end (along with some cake and tea), was a nice touch also. In summary, this is a nice little place with a really attentive couple who genuinely want to make your experience the best it can be.

i arranged a trip for 6 of us and have only good things to say about the location. julie and Robert are friendly and make you welcome. the bubkhouses are clean tidy and functional.the toilets and showers are spotless and with the addition of a new common room area along with the kitchen its a perfect start to the C2C or any other holiday. Julie made all the bookings for us and with the new mini bus and bike trailer your equipment is well looked after and safe. with local connections we were boooked in for food each evening by Julie. for bikers doing the C2C i would say without doubt this is the best place to use and plan your trip from, superb welcome and very attentive hosts who really care, made our visit a pleasure, a nice suprise was a certificate at the end of the ride.

Taken us a while to get back to civilisation so the review is a bit late...our apologies! Myself and 3 others completed the coast to coast in the middle of february, however despite the time of the year, the accomodation and people were really warm and friendly. The rooms were clean and despite forgetting not one but two sleeping bags Robert and Julie were there to help us out, including recommending a great place to eat and have a drink where they booked us a table (right next to the fire place) at a fantastic pub. Our price included breakfast and a packed lunch for the next day, which were both great and I would recommend this place to anyone who is thinking of doing a coast to coast who are after a fantastic place to stay with wondeful people looking after it. Thanks ever so much for the hospitality...you might find us back in the future.

An excellent weekend. Julie and Robert were so helpful and friendly and really did take out the whole hassle factor out of the weekend. I would highly recommend their weekend package as they arranged everything for us including booking meals at the local pubs. The package they provided was excellent value and had a fantastic personal touch. Well done Julie and Robert and many thanks.

What an absolute joy to stay at the farm. Robert and Julie were ever so friendly and the bunkhouse was excellent. We got really good advice for the c2c and with the plans for more development, the place is number 1 in our book. Even if we never do the c2c again I will go up to the farm and camp with my wife and grandson. P.s Robert needs a bigger sign on his beer fridge!! ha.

Julie and Robert are very friendly people and their offering certainly deserves the tag 'hassle free'. The accommodation (we stayed at the bunkhouse) was adaquate, although I didn't notice any radiators. Fortunately heat wasn't a problem for our visit. Robert told us of further plans to improve facilities which sound exciting. The main huge plus point is offering to do the pick ups and transfers. This made booking and planning very easy for us, so top marks for that. I feel it is excellent value too.

We have just stayed at Mains Farm for our first C2C. Nothing was too much effort and the facilities were great. Our whole experience was made more special by Julie and Robert with their friendly approach, even down to chilling the champagne and bringing it with them to collect us from Tynemouth.A BIG thank you to them for making our trip so special.

We arrived at Mains Farm the evening before starting the C2C. and were welcomed by Julie who showed us round the immaculate bunk house, showers etc. As we were unloading the bikes Robert came round and asked us if we would like to go for a leg loosener and he would show us round the area (he is training for the ride). He was excellent company, we had a good chat about farming, camping & cycling etc. Afterwards we retired to the Featherstone, had a good meal & met our hosts again. It was a good start to our weekend. The bunks were very comfortable, showers were spotless and the breakfast good. Transport excellent and spot on time. We were all very impressed with the cycle trailer but not with the weather as by the time we arrived at Whitehaven it was raining heavily. All seven of us completed the C2C ride in our planned 3 days despite a few mechanical problems. At the finish we were met and congratulated by the Pickthalls at the arranged time & swiftly transported back to Mains Farm for showers and tea. All in all, “THEY DO EXACTLY AS IT SAYS ON THE TIN” Thank you. Howard Welbourn.

We took advantage of the bike transfer to start and finish, and also camped at Mains farm (with breakfast inc) before our 3rd day. Julie and Rob are the friendliest people imaginable, organisation was superb, camp site / facilities were fab, and the location is perfect, whether for cycling c2c or just a break away. Having searched various other websites, then the Mains farm package comes out on top for VFM as well. I'm sure we'll be back even if we dont cycle the route again.
